CHOC (Children’s Hospital of Orange County)

In 2000, the Boys & Girls Club of Central Orange Coast became the first Boys & Girls Club in the United States to build an on-site full-service children’s clinic thanks to a partnership with CHOC (Children’s Hospital of Orange County). Equipped with a team of doctors and nursing staff, the BGCCOC CHOC Clinic has become one of Santa Ana’s most valued and important resources to combat childhood obesity, diabetes, and lack of access to health care. Working as a team, BGCCOC Mentor Professionals and CHOC physicians deliver a collaborative strategy to ensure youth live healthy lifestyles, practice healthy habits, and are provided with the health care they need to thrive. This CHOC Clinic is the first freestanding, full-service clinic located at a Boys & Girls Club in the nation.

The VNCOC Southland Health Center

The VNCOC Southland Health Center, formerly known as Vietnamese Community of Orange County, Inc. (VNCOC), was founded in June 1998 in response to the urgent health needs of the large medically-undeserved population in the community. With a medical staff of three physicians, multiple nurse practitioners, three dentists, and strong supporting personnel, which includes four medical assistants and four dental assistants, the Center has accumulated a roster of nearly 10,000 patients with more than 15,000 visits per year, both dental and medical. The Center has also helped enrolled thousands of uninsured children to state-sponsored health insurance programs. Now, as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) clinic, it provides even more quality health care to all residents of Orange County.
